In New York State (NYS), self-storage owners and operators must give an Affirmation and Bill of Sale. This is to get paid for unpaid storage of a vehicle or boat. The NYS Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) enforces this rule.

To get paid for unpaid storage of a vehicle or boat, the storage operator must give the Affirmation to the DMV.
